Erie Canal Boat “Seneca Chief” Back to Buffalo Voyage

Thank you for welcoming the Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief back to your port this spring and for your help to make this journey possible! 

The Bicentennial Voyage in 2025 was a huge success, and we hosted 750 students at the boat during coordinated events (without active outreach!). The Buffalo Maritime Center team now has a season of travel logistics and crew coordination under our belts, and we are ready to deepen our programming to invite students from across New York State.  

We are very excited to invite students back on board during the Back to Buffalo Voyage this spring! Over the last couple of months, we’ve been coordinating with groups, and we already have over 400 students scheduled to visit! 

This list highlights the dates and ports when the Seneca Chief is docked for a full day, and coordinating student groups is possible: 

• May 18 & 19 – Waterford 

• June 8  – Amsterdam 

• June 10 – Little Falls 

• June 12 – Rome 

• June 13 – Sylvan Beach 

• June 14 – Brewerton 

• June 16 – Syracuse 

• June 19 – Lyons

• June 21 – Fairport 

• June 23 – Rochester
